valerie meehan, general manager

Valerie Meehan began her restaurant career in 1999 at Stage Left, a fine dining restaurant known for its eclectic wine list and market driven cuisine in New Brunswick, NJ. She worked her way from back waiter to assistant manager over the course of her four years as a college student at Rutgers University.

Her love of food and wine lead her into Manhattan for cheese courses at Gramercy Tavern and late night dinners of oysters and lamb chops at Blue Ribbon. She was hired as a bartender at Gramercy Tavern in 2006 and worked side by side with her now-husband, Jim Meehan. There she spent two years practicing Danny Meyer's patented hospitality behind one of the busiest bars in New York City.

In 2007, Valerie left Gramercy Tavern to join Mike Price and Joey Campanaro in opening their new restaurant, Market Table. As a server and maitre d', Meehan helped secure rave reviews from both the neighborhood and the media.

In 2009, she returned to Union Square Hospitality Group as an opening manager at Maialino. Working with a team of talented managers, Valerie oversaw the bar while helping to run the busy, 120 seat restaurant.

Towards the end of 2010, Market Table chef and owner Mike Price brought Meehan back: this time as the general manager. In addition to managing all aspects of the dining room, Valerie is using her years of experience to help curate one of the best short wine lists in the city. She's honored to be back to manage the restaurant she helped open in 2007.
